Reba McEntire shared an inside look into her former marriage to Narvel Blackstock. She also admitted that their 26-year-long marriage was work all the time.
During her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show in March, she admitted that being married to your business partner can “work for some people”. Still, she acknowledged that “it was a situation that was always business”.
The Fancy songstress said,
“I think it works for some people. They can be married or have a relationship and work together. Our work was all the time,”
“Our marriage was 26 years. We started out working together in the band. He was part of the band, and then became my manager, later on then my husband, but it was a situation that was always business – whether we were getting ready in the morning, pillow talk, whatever, but it was business.”
She continued, “Even when we were on vacation to recharge the batteries about three days into a vacation it was like, ‘you know what we can do?'”
Despite their amicable split in 2015, the settlement cost Reba whose net worth is $95 million, $47.5 million.
Their joint statement after the divorce read: “Despite this being the end of their marriage, they continue to support each other. They have worked together for 35 years and will continue to do so.”
The exes share a son, Shelby, 35. The doting mother later admitted that she almost passed out when she saw her son racing in Daytona but that it was important to “trust them to follow their passion”.
The country star said, “It just killed me when Shelby ran in Daytona, he came around that corner and all I could see was my little baby’s face in that helmet. I had to sit down, I almost passed out. But you gotta let them follow their dreams. Mama did,”

Was Narvel using Reba for fame and money?
Narvel also has three children from his previous marriage including Brandon Blackstock who is Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband. They divorced in 2020.
The singer first hired Narvel to play steel guitar in her touring band back in 1980. He later became her tour manager, personal manager, and finally, her husband when they married in 1989.
But Reba wasn’t happy “in any shape, form or fashion” with the divorce Narvel, 67, cooked up in 2015 to end their long-term marriage.
The songstress got her revenge when her former husband’s Starstruck Entertainment agency took major hits and she pulled out. Also, Kelly Clarkson ditched them in 2020 amid her divorce from Brandon who was also her manager.
Soon, Narvel’s sole remaining superstar client, Blake Shelton, left his management in 2021.
One insider said at the time,
“Reba says she hates to believe it, but after she turned 60, she thinks Narvel was feeling she wasn’t going to be a big moneymaker so he didn’t want to stay in the marriage,”
“She ended up feeling used. But it turned out his company took a nosedive after their divorce, so Reba can look back and say the decision blew up in Narvel’s face!”

McEntire found love with actor Rex Linn after her divorce. The lovebirds made their relationship public in October 2020. However, they have known each other since 1991 when both of them appeared in the Kenny Rogers movie The Luck of the Draw.

“We’ve kept in contact with each other over the years, and we both know the same people, so it was just like good friends getting back together and having dinner in January,”
