How many houses and properties does Leonardo DiCaprio have?

Leonardo DiCaprio is an environmentalist and one of the most famous actors in Hollywood. The LA native with a net worth of over $300 million has a history of buying and selling real estate. The Titanic heartthrob owns stunning properties in California and New York, from a huge Hollywood Hills compound to two eco-friendly apartments in Manhattan. The Killers of the Flower Moon actor even purchased an island off the coast of Belize to heal the natural landscapes and create an eco-conscious resort.

Leonardo DiCaprio buys a $4 million Hollywood Hills Compound in the 1990s

The natural Californian at heart, Leonardo purchased his first real estate move in Los Angeles by securing a compound in the city’s Hollywood Hills neighborhood. The compound consists of two neighboring properties, one of which he bought from Queen of Pop Madonna for $2.5 million. As per Realtor, he purchased The second one in 1994 and paid $4 million for the home.

As of today, the compound has five adjoining parcels that span more than five acres, according to Mansion Global.

The Academy Award winner has done some major renovations, including a basketball court which got him into trouble. He uses this property for entertainment purposes. He rented it to his famous friend, The Great Gatsby costar Tobey Maguire.

DiCaprio buys $1.6 million Malibu mansion in 1998

Right after tasting the success of Titanic, Dicaprio, who was only 24 at the time bought a Malibu property for $1.6 million in 1998. The retreat consists of a three-bedroom, two-bathroom spans 1,765 square feet, and is located inside a gated community and on the strip of sand known as Billionaire’s Beach. Built in 1950, the home has indoor-outdoor living with floor-to-ceiling windows that highlight ocean views, a spacious deck, and a private courtyard.

The actor listed the home for rent in 2012 and it happened till 2016 when he put it up for sale in 2016. By 2017, it was already back on rent for $25,000. In 2021, DiCaprio sold it for $10.3 million.

Just a few months before the house was sold, Leo’s former interior designer, Megan Weaver revealed on the podcast Behind the Velvet Rope that the house was once full of Titanic decor and memorabilia.

Leonardo DiCaprio scoops up a $769,000 California home in 1999

Shortly after the Miami purchase, the Hollywood star expanded his real estate holdings by purchasing a Spanish-style hacienda for $769,000 in 1999. The property which was built in the 1930s is located in Silver Lake with four bedrooms and four-and-a-half-bathroom.

Talking about the design, the three-story residence features exposed beams and hardwood floors. Other attractive highlights include a covered loggia and a swimming pool. He sold the property for $1.56 million in 2018.

 2005: DiCaprio spends $1.75 million on an island off the coast of Belize

The Wolf of Wall Street must have become proud of Leo’s next big investment.  He purchased an island off the coast of Belize. However, he didn’t buy the 104-acre unpopulated island for his private purpose. Instead, he bought it with environmental restoration in mind. With the partnership of Paul Scialla of the New York-based developer Delos, he transformed the land known as Blackadore Caye into a restorative island.

The project has an eco-conscious luxury resort and measures to heal the island itself. In 2015, Leo spoke to The New York Times about his project and said that the goal was to open the island in 2018.

Leonardo DiCaprio buys a $3.67 million NYC apartment

In 2008, DiCaprio bought a $3.67 million apartment in New York City’s Manhattan’s Battery Park at 2 River Terrace. The eco-friendly building offers a lot of amenities, including a 50-foot lap pool, landscaped terrace, yoga studio, billiards room, kids’ playroom, and dog spa.

The residents are also lucky to enjoy twice-filtered air, filtered water, nontoxic materials, and lower energy costs.  Other celebs who own a property there include Tyra Banks, Cobie Smulders, Will Smith, and others.

DiCaprio purchases a $5.2 million estate in Palm Springs

After NYC, Dicaprio became one of the A-listers who had the desire to purchase a property on the desert oasis where he bought a Palm Springs estate for a whopping $5.2 million.

The midcentury modern home was built originally by architect Donald Wexler in 1964 at 432 Hermosa. It was once owned by actress Dinah Shore. The house has six bedrooms and a seven-and-a-half bathroom abode that spans 7,100 square feet.

Glass walls offer a clear view of the magical mountains beyond. The  Old Las Palmas home also has a guest house, pool, and tennis court. The actor has had it on the rental market since 2016. That means fans can book a stay for a starting rate of $3,750 per night.

DiCaprio Purchases a $2.05 Million California Ranch

Leo bought another home in 2014 for $2.05 million in Los Angeles’s Studio City. Built in 1937, the modest home is guarded by a fence with a greenery-covered archway. The 3,407 sq. feet property with four bedrooms and three bathrooms has vaulted ceilings, a chef’s kitchen, multiple fireplaces, a wet bar, and a pool, the home has no shortage of covetable features.

The Django Unchained star sold the house in 2016 for $2.2 million.

DiCaprio spends $10 million on an NYC condo

Leonardo’s third home purchase in 2014 was his East Coast roots with a casual $10 million condo in New York City. The stunning property is located at 66 East 11th Street in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village and has a three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom apartment. The building where it is located is popular for its health and wellness amenities.

The 3,663-square-foot unit has vitamin C–infused showers, purified air and water, in-duct aromatherapy, posture-supportive flooring, antimicrobial coatings on both countertops and doors, and a circadian rhythm lighting system.

It also boasts a private elevator, 11-foot ceilings, and an en suite bathroom with a tub and heated limestone floors. However, he sold it for $ 8 million in 2016.

DiCaprio Adds Another $8 Million NYC Pad to His Portfolio

Leo purchased a two-bedroom apartment next to his Battery Park unit for $8  million. It meant that the  Inception star gained 2,327 square feet of space and a 1,035-square-foot outdoor terrace. He still owns these units in the celebrity enclave known as Riverhouse, which sits right on the Hudson River.

DiCaprio’s most expensive home purchase yet

In 2017, Leo shelled out a reported $23 million for a Malibu beach house. What surprises fans is that the house isn’t that big at all. The 610-square-foot cottage exists on a 1.8-acre lot in Paradise Cove. It is also an exclusive area where many celebs including Barbara Corcoran also have residences.

At the time, it was reported that the former owner of the property got approval to build a new two-story home along with a pool, a cliffside deck, a private beach, and an onsite wastewater treatment. It’s unclear if any work has been completed.

DiCaprio Buys $4.91 Million Los Feliz Mansion

In 2018, Leo reportedly bought a Los Angeles property for his dad in the Los Feliz neighborhood for which he paid $4.91 million. The five-bedroom, eight-bathroom home was built in 1926 and is known as Red Oak Manor.

The dwelling has high ceilings and Tudor-style architectural details that have been updated with a modern flair. The 4,644-square-foot abode has an eat-in kitchen, three fireplaces, and a terrace. He put it on the market for $5.75 in 2021, and it eventually sold for almost $4.9 million in 2022.

Leo buys $7.1 Million Los Feliz Residence

The same year when Leo put up his Feliz home for sale, he bought another one. This time, it was a 1928 Spanish Colonial for $7.1 million. It previously belonged to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition host Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

The property has some complementary gothic elements, like a black iron staircase and chandelier cage. Some rooms, like the bathroom and library, got a moody makeover with deep, rich colors and metallic accents.
