He was born in Syracuse, New York, on November 8, 1973. He started his career at WTVH-TV in Syracuse after obtaining a journalism degree at Syracuse University in 1995. Muir moved to WCVB-TV Boston in 2000 and three years later, he was hired by ABC as an overnight anchor for the channel’s World News Now in 2003.
